The course explains the cash handover process at the end of a hotel shift, ensuring a smooth transition between staff and minimizing cash discrepancies. Here's an overview:

1. Counting Cash:

  • Physical cash is tallied.
  • Float (money kept for guest transactions) is separated.
  • Excess cash is noted and stored in an envelope.

2. Paid Out & IOU Slips:

  • Paid Out: Small payments made on behalf of guests.
  • IOU: Small inter-departmental expenses.

3. Blind Drop System:

  • Cash is handed over without immediate reconciliation in the Property Management System.
  • Discrepancies (shortages/overages) are identified later by the finance team.

4. Supervisor's Role:

  • Ensure all steps are followed.
  • Print reports and prepare documentation for finance.

5. Reliever's Role:

  • Verify cash count and sign off with the outgoing staff.

The process emphasizes accuracy, accountability, and proper documentation to avoid issues with cash management.
