The course highlights five common phrases used by restaurant staff that may negatively impact guest experiences and offers alternative phrases to improve communication and hospitality:

1. "Just one" – This phrase can sound dismissive to solo diners. Instead, use welcoming alternatives like "A table for one tonight?"

2. "Still working?" – This phrase can create pressure on guests. Replace it with a more polite "May I clear this for you?"

3. "No problem" – While seemingly casual, it can imply there was an issue. Use "My pleasure" or "You're welcome" to sound more genuine and professional.

4. "I don’t know" – Instead of sounding unsure, respond with "Great question, let me check on that for you right away" to show attentiveness and professionalism.

5. "How’s everything?" – This generic question feels impersonal. Ask more specific questions like "How did that salmon turn out?" to engage guests more meaningfully.

By replacing these phrases with positive, specific language, restaurant staff can enhance the guest experience, creating a warmer and more professional atmosphere.
